Eden Cosmology
Eden can be considered a planet, floating in the midst of a vast space with a single sun and moon. The Sun is intermittently blackened out by the darkness of space. This space, the Crawling Chaos of the Forlorn Void, is filled with debris and bizarre alien life that is kept away from Eden by bands of clouds known as the Second Sky. If one were to travel past the Second Sky and look down on the planet from the Forlorn Void, one would see the supercontinent of Adel, and quite a lot of ocean every which way.
However, the planet would abruptly end, as though half-sunk in a strange shadowy mass. It is unknown what lies beneath this mass, but many theorize that crossing the ocean is a physical way of reaching Septinum, the Hells Beneath All Creation, which, like the Second Skies and the Forlorn Void, cannot be physically traveled to except by use of transportation magic.
Septinum: The Hells Beneath All Creation, Septinum is said to lie beneath the plane of Eden. It is one of the places from which Spirit energies flow freely. It is the home of the Ashura and devils, and a terrifying waste at times deserted and at times burning, horrible to inhabit unless one is ready for its danger. Septinum can be considered a “deserted hell” for the most part. It is a massive cavernous place, with few creatures in it. It is not entirely a no-man’s land – any well-prepared person, and of course its inhabitants, can survive the geographical perils. There are a few kingdoms and metropolises in Septinum, but the majority of this almost endless plane is merely a cavernous waste with a black and grey sky.
The Second Skies: Bands of clouds with flying ejecta from space embedded within, the Second Skies shield Eden from the Forlorn Void. The beautiful manses of bird and sky spirits reside here, where the royalty of the sky gives a day-night cycle to the people below. Elemental Teardrops, material from the sun and void that came floating from spirits-know-where float above in the Second Sky and are harvested and used by the Spirits there, or by travelers to the place. Much less populated than Septinum, there are no kingdoms in the sky, only the mansions and aeries of certain families of Spirits who’s natural habitat is the hard cloud and elemental footholds that soar far above Adel in this eerie plane.
The Forlorn Void: The Darkness Above The Sky, the Crawling Chaos, which holds the Thousand Stars. Staring at the sky on a cloudless night you can see the Forlorn Void, which holds moon, sun and stars aloft in a sea of darkness that tries to encroach upon Eden, but is kept away by the Second Sky. Mad monsters and the aberrant cities of the Dromidae Empire hover within the roiling blackness of the Void. Some spirit energies form here, dark and depraved energies that instead of creating something new, despoil things already existing.
