I’m thinking of running a game of Expedition over IRC at some point soon. The game would be a simple dungeon one-shot – you would start with an amount of Expedition Points give by me, to you, in order to expedite adventuring through one or two levels of a dungeon (or as far as we can get in like 4 or 5 hours). There’ll be fights, traps, and a little bit of roleplaying, though not a huge deal because this isn’t really meant to be a whole game experience, just testing some stuff. I haven’t actually GMed over IRC for ages now, so I may be a bit slow on the uptake, but I will try my best to give you a fun little test of the game. If you can’t make a character, I’ll probably have some written up, albeit I still don’t have a form-fillable sheet ready.
I’d like to have four players, optimally. I don’t really have the time to commit to a solid IRC campaign, so the IRC stuff is quite likely going to be one shots here and there to test out perks and things. As it stands, I don’t have any required perks I want to see, though I’d like to have one of each normal class, no monster classes. Later on if possible I’ll ask to test out the monster party, and then a mixed party. For this particular session we probably won’t be fighting a Leader monster. Anyway, if you’re interested, leave a comment with times and dates within the next week you might be able to make. I can make probably anything. I’m in the Eastern time zone.
If anybody would be interested in an actual campaign I can run one by forum. Or on google wave, since that actually still exists for some reason. Not google plus though, that’s way too funky for me right now.

Fallen from sky, risen from beneath the ground, surfacing from the depths of the ocean, pieces of the Lost World constantly turn up, unwanted, in Adel. Though they form the technology and knowledge base of Adel, they represent a past that everyone would rather forget, or have rather never known about. Before Adel there was another world – a world of chrome and steel poured over poisoned land, of choking black sky, of alien fauna and flora playing out a caricature of natural life for destructive masters who had claimed and abused all of the world. At the height of its power, the Lost World was destroyed.
As Adelians plumbed the depths of their world, and thereby uncovered their history, they came into conflict with the remnants of the Lost World. The Elves were a part of this puzzle, but despite their xenophobic, genocidal culture, even they were more reasonable an enemy than the protectors of the old world – the Angels. Their name coming from an Ancient word meaning “messenger.” But the only message the Angels bring to Adel is a dirge of violence and extermination.

No matter how much time you put into a text, you will probably be faced with a dreaded typo at some point. This happens to professional companies with a dedicated editing staff and it will happen to me and my editor, probably in the most embarrassing places. Unfortunately for an RPG game, a typo can be pretty harrowing and confusing, particularly for players looking to the rules as legal gospel (and for those looking for loopholes). However, I am thankful to have plenty of readers who will tear everything I write apart, and spear me to a crude monument for all of my mistakes.
That monument is this post.
In this post and its associated comments thread, I want people to post mistakes or confusing bits of the Expediton RPG text, and I will clear them up, keep them in the post for everyone to reference (with page numbers) and make a note to fix them for the possible next release/for the beta.
So get your spears ready! Here is the current errata for the game as of AUGUST 9th, 2011.

Expedition is a fantasy adventure roleplaying game about traveling, exploring, fighting, bonding and all manner of points. It uses a 3d6 for most rolls and has fairly quick character generation. It uses a system that is fairly simple at first glance and in play but can be used for flexible and strategic gameplay while exploring, researching, fighting or interacting with NPCs.
You can get it here: Direct Download (thanks to Critical Hits), Mediafire mirror.
The file is 109 pages of very basic PDF, and 1.2 megabytes to download. It has PDF bookmarks.
You can download a print-ready, Form Fillable PDF Character Sheet: Mediafire.
Thanks to Greg Christopher for making the old sheet form-fillable!
You can go here to read the latest Errata, new rules and corrections. This is an evolving alpha playtest! I will have an Errata document up for download soon as well.

I was going to write a longer post, but Lindevi from triplecrit hits a few bases, so you can go over there and check that out. I don’t agree with her on everything, but it is a good article to look at nonetheless. What I have to add is this: whatever turns out from the allegations against Dazed, I still think Heartbreak and Heroines sounds like an interesting game and I still support it. If you think this is equivalent to supporting Dazed’s alleged crimes, so be it. I haven’t pledged money, because I have a lot of money problems currently, including $3500 in medical bills I might have to pay, despite being a struggling student. I won’t make any money, or have anything to gain from Heartbreak And Heroines’ kickstarter except getting to play it someday.
I have no opinion on dazed’s personal life, and know very little about it. I don’t ask people on twitter for their life story. If they’re my friends it’s because I followed them and they make me laugh. So I can’t judge her or any party involved in this. Furthermore, my blog will not be used to air any kind of serious criminal accusations against others. I am not getting into that hot water. This is a gaming blog, and I will not use it as a forum for myself or anyone to discuss such things. You can call me whatever you want for it: people are already calling me a rape apologist, a misogynist etc. That is your right, and my right is not to have criminal accusations aired on my blog. Take them to the authorities.

I do a lot of different weird stuff – I used to do a lot more, but lately I’ve been feeling kinda in the dumps for a long period of time (like going on six months now) and haven’t been as productive. Way back when though, I had tons of energy and was pretty much posting something weird every day on a blog or site somewhere. I liked entertaining people on the internet – I still do, or at least I try to give people something that might make them happy. I like to do more than just RPGs, I watched and wrote a lot of anime reviews, video game reviews, wrote more fiction and so on. I still do those things, just not as much lately as I said.
So I have a lot of friends and acquaintances in different circles. A lot of them hear that I’m writing an RPG game and they really wonder how that even happens. I have a friend who does some lets play videos on youtube and she always wonders how I get it in me to write an RPG game. Well, I guess for her, and others that might be wondering, I thought I’d dedicate this homebrew diary post to my process. As a warning though my only publishing credit is a part of an indie D&D book, and I’m not the deepest guy in the universe, I’ve found, so the utility of this post is questionable.
