Recently had a sort of test session for a 3.5 game – would’ve been a fuller session, but most of the group disappeared. So I thought I’d do my part and help the GM out by asking if anybody’d be interested in playing. The GM is getting back into the groove of things after a year’s absence from D&D, but he has interesting ideas and his heart’s in the right place. So if you’re interested, read on.
•You can contact the GM at this email address: a_bomb37[at]hotmail.com. Ask for character generation help and setting fluff, and he’ll deliver it. You can talk to him over AOL Instant Messenger too, but ask him about that.
•The game uses D&D 3.5. The GM allows any book published by Wizard’s of the Coast EXCEPT for the Book of Exalted Deeds or Vile Darkness. This means your tome of battle or psionic character is totally welcome. The game is Level 5 and is mostly a sandbox-y kind of campaign. Right now the two characters (me and another guy) who’ve joined up are probably gonna go tramp around in the mountains to explore a cave abandoned by a gold dragon once affiliated with Bahamut.
•Important note: This is not Pathfinder. We’re playing WOTC’s D&D 3.5. They’re pretty similar in most respects, but Pathfinder character generation and classes are different from D&D 3.5′s, so use the correct SRD and all that.
•We’re running the game over Maptools for 4-5 hours usually starting at 8 PM EST. The date shifts as we accommodate everybody’s schedule, so it might be a different day each week. The GM will keep you in the loop. We do not use Voice Chat – the game uses just the Chat and the Map in the Maptools app. You don’t have to be an amateur novelist to join, but be prepared to read and to write, as the roleplaying will go on in the text chat, as well as the GM’s descriptions. You’ll be using your imagination a lot.
(If you need help with this kind of roleplaying I’ve written a guide in three parts: One, Two, Three.)
•This is my character if you want some kind of reference (using mythweavers for your sheet is recommended). Just know that I made all my fluff up, and you can do that too, the GM is cool about players shaping the world. The other character is a Wizard. So right now, if you could join up as a tome of battle character or other good beatstick that’d be great. But anything is fine.

Very interesting looking game play – let me know how it continues for you. Isn’t it difficult to read / write simultaneously when multiple characters / NPC’s are interacting?
Not really once you get accustomed to it. All the text is there on the chat so you can always backtrack if you missed anything.
Oh, ok – gotcha’. That definitely helps. I’m sure it’s like anything text-based. You kind of learn what to and not to pay attention to.
