Threats To Eden VII: Hordes of the Dead

There is no real afterlife in Adel. Once a person passes away, its essence scatters like ash into the winds, rejoining the global essence flow that encompasses all things, drifting invisibly and eternally. Consciousness as we know it is lost, memories and emotions scattered incredible distances from one another. Coalescing the entirety of a person back from death is next to impossible. The body can be made to move, but the essence, the aura that gave it true life, cannot easily be reassembled and attached to the body again like a lost limb. But the system is not flawless. At the crucial moment where a person’s body ceases to function and its aura ceases to anchor, a perversion can occur. The nature of the death and the divine perversion gives rise to a multitude of creatures neither alive or dead.

Copper Coins: Paths Not Taken

In Copper Coins! there were many rules I wrote once, or game elements that were there at the beginning, that no longer exist. You saw this before with the recovery die changes. Today, I want to talk about some of the rules that will exist in the completed game, but not by default. The game has a section of Alternate Rules. I feel that all games should come with something like this – rules that might not have “made the final product” but that might still be worth something to someone. Random RPG Talk

I’m still trying to settle into the semester, get a read on the optimal amount of studying vs. procrastinating for my current lineup of course. I’m kind of excited about the field trips for my Florida Geology course. Until I do I probably won’t be able to post a lot of Eden stuff, though I am working on some more, as well as soliciting feedback for stuff I’ve already done. I just thought I’d post talking about RPG stuff since for a while this blog’s just been Copper Coins! announcements and previews.

DriveThroughRPG Now Has Print Books

I recently was pleasantly surprised to discover that DTRPG has started up with a selection of print products for sale. While the selection was once relatively modest, it appears to be growing every day. I know a lot of people have the sentiment that a PDF is not really a thing so much as a book is. I personally like PDFs better, but I ordered Courts of the Shadow Fey in print from them and got it without any hassle. It’s the same system as ordering a PDF, pretty much – as long as you have your DTRPG information pretty well filled out, you’ll breeze through the order process. I’ve had a lot of good times with DTRPG before, so I just wanted to point this out to recommend them. You used to go to them for just PDFs, but if that’s not your thing, you may want to give them a second look.
