Open Design has done a series of well-received patronage projects where people pay to have a level of involvement in the design of an RPG product. The nice thing about the projects is that you get to chat with RPG big-shots like Wolfgang Baur as you watch them do their thing. You can see ideas take form, give your own opinions, and watch and participate as they make a full-fledged product. I’m part of the current one, The Lost City, which you can read a bit about here from Logan Bonner. Among the people around for it are my bro Quinn Murphy, DMSamuel and Rich Green, and that’s just off the top of my head. And of course me, so you’re sold? So far the ideas that have been thrown around are pretty cool and I’m very excited to see how this develops and to share my opinions and read those of a bunch of cool RPG folk both from professional and enthusiast.
So what’s this post about? Well, The Lost City can only advance if it gets enough patronage to go forward. So if you’re interested, think about buying even a little bit into it. Trust me, I was skeptical too once upon a time, but these projects have more than well proved themselves both in past endeavors and from what I’m seeing right now. It’ll be worth it.
