Review: Fey Folio, The Unseelie Court

S-S-S-Stupid readers…it’s not like I like you or anything. I’m just going to post this review now because I got the product for free from Alluria Publishing! I mean I might as well you know. Hmph. Don’t you dare think I did it because you like reviews or anything! And don’t get too confident either! I didn’t play any of this, so this is an idiot review! But if you want…you can stay and read and stuff…it’s not like I care if you do or not, just like I don’t care if you go here to buy the book! HMPH!

Technology In Eden I: Military

The world of the Spirits of Eden varies in its technology. While most of it is set roughly to the standards of the 1300s and 1400s, some bits of practical magic and unique elements have elevated technology in certain areas, while scarcity and location has made it lower in others. Tradition and religion is also an important element to consider – most people in Adel wear robes with cloth belts, because of the tradition religiously recurring throughout the land, even if perhaps some sturdy pants and a good shirt and vest would be better. There is also the matter of the Dromidae Empire – their level of technology is above Adel’s.

An adventure module seemed like the perfect fit, so I was asked to write one for it.

Adrenaline

This is an idea for a rule I’m going to put into NAA D6 1.5. I’m really considering making it a core rule, which would mean I can write advantages to mess around with it. I’m also thinking of making a track like it that’s tied to Vitality and Wounds, but more than likely I won’t as I kind of like the system I have going for that right now, which is fairly simple.

Spending Points

I’ve always liked the idea of points as a tracking and resource mechanic. If you know the system well enough, you could more or less plot the amount of things you can do in a day, if the points are the be all and end all of the game’s resources; if not, say in the case where points are a buff to your abilities, you can plot out about how many “extra cool” things you’ll be able to do. It adds a nice layer to the game’s strategy, as well as being a relatively nice boon for both the player and the GM. I can’t tell you how many times Drama Points in Cthulhutech or Willpower Points in World of Darkness saved my characters. Read the rest of this entry »
